What is SEM?
SprintPlus Exam Mode (SEM) is an additional mode within SprintPlus that can be used by teachers and tutors to set tests or exams in SprintPlus.online and SprintPlus 4.*
- Easily prepare tests and exams in advance
- Choose which features are permitted
- Submitted tests or exams are saved directly to the selected drive folder
- Easily manage and edit tests or exams
- Pupils can take tests and exams in their own SprintPlus account
(without having access to their own books and files in SprintPlus)

An exam mode for SprintPlus users
Exams and tests can present challenges for pupils, teachers and support staff alike. With SEM, we aim to ensure that pupils using assistive technology do not face additional barriers. Pupils must be able to use their assistive technology to the full, without compromising on functionality. With this exam mode, the student gains easy access to the test or exam, and it is automatically submitted to the correct drive folder. To the user, the SprintPlus environment looks no different. You can use SEM as a teacher or support staff member; the SprintPlus user will only see the test or exam itself.
An exam mode for teachers and support staff
The SprintPlus Exam Mode was developed at the request of teachers and support staff working in the field on a daily basis. We always start our development work with the user in mind. SEM ensures that screen-reading software is also accessible during tests and exams. At the same time, we want to ensure that teachers and tutors can get to grips with it easily. That is why the focus is on a simple yet comprehensive mode that offers teachers and tutors plenty of options to support every pupil.
SEM with Safe Exam Browser
SEM is not a replacement for Safe Exam Browser (SEB). Our exam mode does not disconnect the computer from the internet or take control of the computer. The student still has access to other programmes. You can, however, combine SEM with Safe Exam Browser, or other paid applications such as Schoolyear, Prowise Go or Classroom Cloud. We do ensure that everything is logged. This makes it easy for teachers and supervisors to check that everything is proceeding correctly during and after the exam.
If you use SEM with SprintPlus 4, the computer can be further restricted. The student can only exit the SprintPlus 4 exam environment in two ways:
- by submitting the exam,
- by entering the unlock code.
The student does not need the unlock code to submit the exam. You can find the unlock code by clicking on the exam in the SEM administrator portal.
Once the exam has started, the internet can be disabled if desired. Please note: you must enable the internet in order to submit the exam.
